P040→ Scratch, scratch, scratch!

Today, I took three posters to the studio and scratched off a small portion of each. I felt that I needed to start this myself so that when they are displayed at the exhibition, people can more clearly understand that these parts can be scratched off.

At noon, I met with David in class. He gave me insights on how to enhance the interactivity of the posters from various aspects such as 'placement height' and 'accompanying tool display.'

His mention of designing to 'leave room for audience reflection' resonated with me, as my previous designs focused on so-called 'visual impact,' striving to convey my messages to the audience. This time, I am taking a more moderate approach, so my design is different from before.

Additionally, he suggested recording the scratching process to create a dynamic video, which reminded me of the 'Breathe' themed exhibition posters at the 2020 New York TDC. It was a very clever dynamic design as it used motion to convey the meaning of the word 'breathe.' Overall, I realize there is still much room for development in my theme and posters, which makes me excited.
